This Privacy Policy describes how Daays (“the app,” “we,” “us”) handles information when you use the app. The short version: Daays is designed to work entirely on your device, with no accounts and no server that stores your journal.
Daays is a private journal. It's built around one idea: your entries are yours, and they stay on your device. Daays has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no server that stores or reads your journal. This policy explains exactly what data the app touches, why, and where it goes.
Your journal entries — titles, body text, tags, mood selections, photos, and voice recordings — are stored only in a local database on your device. Daays does not upload, sync, or transmit this content to us or to any third party. We have no way to see what you write.
If you allow location access, Daays can capture the name of the place you're writing from and the current weather at write time, shown as a small line on your entry. Your location is used briefly, only when you save an entry, to look up a place name (using your device's built-in location services) and to fetch the current weather from Open-Meteo, a third-party weather service, by sending your coordinates to their API. Open-Meteo does not receive your name, your journal content, or any other identifying information — only the coordinates needed to answer "what's the weather here." Location access is entirely optional; Daays works fully without it, and you can deny or revoke it at any time in your device's Settings.
Daays asks for camera, photo library, and microphone access only when you choose to attach a photo or record a voice note to an entry. Those files are stored locally alongside the rest of your entry and are never uploaded anywhere by the app.
If you turn on the optional privacy lock, Daays asks your device's operating system to confirm your identity with Face ID or your passcode before showing your journal. This authentication happens entirely within iOS — Daays never receives, stores, or has access to your biometric data.
If you enable journal reminders, Daays schedules local notifications on your device to nudge you to write. These reminders are handled entirely by your device's operating system; no reminder data is sent to us or anyone else.
Daays lets you export your journal as a JSON backup, a Markdown document, or a PDF, and to restore from a backup file. These files are created and saved on your device (and, if you choose, in a location like the Files app or your own iCloud Drive) entirely under your control. We do not receive a copy of any backup or export.
Daays has no user accounts, no analytics or tracking, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs that collect behavioral data. Aside from the optional, on-demand weather lookup described above, the app makes no network requests involving your data. We don't sell data, because we don't collect any to sell.
Because everything lives on your device, you're always in control. You can delete any entry, delete every entry at once, or delete the app entirely to remove all associated data. Backups you've saved outside the app (for example, in Files or iCloud Drive) are yours to manage and delete independently, since Daays doesn't retain any record of them once created.
Daays is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the app collects no data on our servers at all, this is true by design rather than by policy alone.
If this policy changes, we'll update the "last updated" date above and make the revised policy available in the app and wherever it's published. Since Daays doesn't collect contact information from you, we can't notify you directly — we encourage you to check back periodically.
